History of Good MotorsportsRobert Good started it all. He owned gas stations around Maryland and used some of his spare money to sponsor a few racers from Dorsey Speedway, Md and Beltsville Speedway, Md. Robert helped Al Dailey and old time figure 8 racer, Charlie Weaver by sponsoring their cars with Good's Texaco. He would travel to many tracks such as Southside, Va, Old Dominion Speedway, Va, Langley, Va, and South Boston Speedway, Va. While traveling to all these tracks, he took his son, Art, along with him and they helped many racers. After traveling all across the east side of the US, Art developed a big interest in racing. Art's interest of racing, while growing up, led him into building go kart motors and more racing. He started small by racing GO-KARTS and did this at Stateline Speedway, Va and Monrovia Speedway, Va. He won over one hundred races. Art, just like his father Robert, brought his son along to see the events. This is where his son, Nick, started his interest in racing. Nick was only 2 months old when he saw his first race at Potomac Speedway, Va/Md. As he got older, his interest for racing got bigger. His dad saw his interest and supported it. Art bought Nick his first GO-KART at the age of 8, and took him to where he once raced ( Stateline Speedway, Va ). Nick raced for a year, but had to stop due to an accident. Though he had to stop GO-KARTS, his racing interest grew bigger moving on into dirt cars. Till this day, Nick goes to see dirt car races, and hopes to get more into racing as time moves on. Because of their deep interest in racing, Art decided to build his first street stock dirt car. With Nick's help, his first street stock was a '77 Nova , and now has changed to a '87 Monte Carlo. Art's father and family comes to see him race, and the love for racing still grows.
